What I'm Wanting Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone!!  Don't worry, I will be posting the winner of the $40 gift certificate soon, but first I wanted to tell you what I'm wanting.

 I L-O-V-E yellow and gray together.

 It is like the sunshine meets a thunderstorm and I love them both!  So when I saw this tote/diaperbag over at Gussy Sews, I fell in love with it.
Unfortunately, it is sold out.
Haha!  That's okay because this is "What I'm Wanting Wednesday", not "What I'm Planning on Buying Today Wednesday".  That blog post would include a gallon of milk, men's tees with a pocket, and baby laundry detergent, which is much less fun!
What are you wanting today?

Do It Yourself Jewelry Boards

We're super excited to use our "new" jewelry boards this weekend for our show.  Last show season, we didn't put much into our jewelry display boards.  We bought corkboards from Ikea, spray painted them dark brown, and stuck pins in them and hung the necklaces.
The pins were constantly bending and falling out, the paint got scraped off in spots, dust collected on them like crazy, and by the end of the season, Brodi referred to them as the "poop" boards and I thought the name suited them perfectly.
We were determined to just trash them and figure out something better, but we kept them just in case, and I'm glad we did.

Here is what we did the boards to make them look beautiful:

Materials: Burlap ($4 a yard from JoAnns), White Hook Screws ($2 for a box of 40 at Lowe's), Elmer's Glue (Spray Adhesive would probably work better, but I didn't want to buy it), corkboard ($5.99 at Ikea), White decorative crown moulding rectangle ($12 each at Lowe's)

All we had to do was cut the burlap and glue it to the board.
We then blued the decorative rectangle around the edge (the rectangle moulding from Lowe's was the exact same size as the board from IKEA.
If they're different sizes, I am sure there is more work involved!
We twisted the hook screws in to place and we were done!

You can see the "poop boards" above

Jewelry Board After

Ta-Dah!  I finally completed a do-it-yourself project!  Oh, by the way, while I was taking pictures of my new beautiful board, this is what Delaney was doing:

Yes, that is her UNDER the playmat instead of ON the playmat.  Yes, she is missing a sock.  But evidentally she just wanted to play hide-and-go seek.  {I still panicked a little when I saw her though}

Shooting and Showers

I was SO excited to get my new camera in the mail last week.  You may have remembered me posting some of my worst pics from Del's first 6 months of life, using my horrible point and shoot camera.
Well, I finally caved in and bought a Sony Alpha camera
 {my first DSLR for all of you camera junkies out there}.

It is not the top of the line camera,
but I am not a top of line photographer, so we'll make a perfect match.

 This weekend, Delaney and I attended my soon to be cousin-in-law's wedding shower.
I thought it'd be a perfect time to try my NEW camera out.
Okay, most of the pictures are of food because I heard,

"This picture better not show up on facebook OR your blog"

on more than one occasion.

 yes, they were as delicious as they look.

 overkill on the food photos? I know. sorry.
 my babe
 it only took about 15 shots to get one that we both accepted.
 Harper had to help open gifts, of course

What I'm Wanting Wednesday

I thought I'd start a new weekly segment and call it, "What I Want Wednesday"
I know clever, right?

This week, I want two poplar wood signs from MRC Woodproducts.

Okay, I admit it.  I already have a sign- that is mine in the photo.
I keep it on our bookshelf in the family room and I stare at it everyday.  BUT...I have 2 weddings coming up this summer, and what a perfect gift!  {hmm..I hope the brides aren't reading this}

I have given it before as a wedding gift and I think it will become my new wedding gift to every wedding I go to, even if it is not on the registry!

There are many different designs and you can pick the color.
I guess I'm really partial to personalized things :)

I know the husband and wife who make and sell these and they are incredible quality and really are beautiful.  Here a couple more that I am loving right now...

Indie Business Binder

 I mentioned before that I'm taking the Indie Business 3.0 class.  Well, our first "project" before class started was to create a binder for the class.  We actually had certain requirements with the interior pocket and labeling.  This is the perfect "class" for me because I need to get those creative juices flowing again.

{This also meant digging out my scrapbook supplies from the closet that I haven't used since Delaney was born.  I used to be a crazy scrapoholic, but at this rate I won't have time again until about 2029}

Here is my finished product:

I seriously had to remind myself that I wasn't getting a "grade" on how pretty my binder looked, but  everyone posted pics of their binders, so I couldn't just buy a Lisa Frank TrapperKeeper and be done.  {If you don't know what that is, then you didn't go to elementary school in the early nineties, like me}.
